Despite intense criticism from admirers, George Clooney is still in awe of his wife, Amal Clooney, the mysterious and beautiful woman who won his heart and ended his bachelorhood.
“Everything about my wife is magical, as I believe everyone has realized as they see her, hear her, and hear what she stands for.” In 2022, the screen-savvy Clooney told Entertainment Today. “She just doesn’t have a flaw.”
George Clooney is well-known for his roles in television and film. Some may recognize him as a young handyman on the popular comedy The Facts of Life, which ran from 1979 until 1988. He has recently appeared in films such as Ticket to Paradise, Ocean’s Eleven, and O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2022).
In 2013, he met Amal Alamuddin, an attractive Lebanese-British human rights attorney.
The couple’s incredible love tale continued in 2014, with a proposal after only six months of dating.
“I dropped it on her, and she just kept saying, ‘Oh, my God,’ and ‘Wow!’” Clooney, now 61, recounted of the event. We just stayed there till I said, “Listen, I’m 52, and I’ve been on my knee for about 28 minutes, so I have to get an answer out of this, or I’m going to throw a hip out. I may not be able to get back up!”
In September 2014, the pair married at the luxury Aman Canal Grande hotel in Venice, Italy, in front of a star-studded audience that included Bono, Matt Damon, and Bill Murray.
Amal was thrust into the spotlight when she began dating Clooney, making her vulnerable to the relentless harassment of online trolls.
Amal’s numerous well-known clients include Julian Assange, the founder of Wikileaks, and Yulia Tymoshenko, Ukraine’s former prime minister who backed her country’s membership in the European Union. Amal is 45 years old now. In 2019, she also spoke on behalf of the United Nations.
Some people on social media call the model “u.g.l.y” and a “gawky gargoyle,” ignoring her accomplishments in favor of her appearance and physique.
“I am utterly perplexed that when George Clooney intends to settle down, he chooses Amal Clooney, who looks like an unattractive man,” one Twitter user commented in January 2015.
One commenter said she’s lovely, but her legs are shapeless sticks and sticky, while another said, “Too dreadfully thin, too very thin boney old thing.”
Meanwhile, one individual backed the attorney, stating, “Amal Clooney is a knowledgeable and experienced lawyer!! What difference does it make how she dresses?
In one example, a major news organization overlooked Amal’s outstanding accomplishments.
The Associated Press was rebuked in 2015 for referring to Amal, who was then representing Egyptian-Canadian journalist Mohamed Fahmy, as a “actor’s wife.”
“Amal Clooney, actor’s wife, represents Al-Jazeera journalist ᴀᴄᴄᴜsᴇᴅ in Egypt of ties to extremists,” said the tweet.
Many people were outraged by AP’s tweet, leading the news outlet to amend it to “Human rights lawyer Amal Clooney condemns prison terms handed out to three Al-Jazeera English journalists.”
Amal answered delicately on BBC’s Entertainment Tonight, stating, “There’s not much I can do to stop it but keep going. Critically criticizing journalists for focusing on the wrong problems is encouraging because it shows that people expect more from their media.”
In March 2022, Time magazine featured Amal in a cover story headlined Women of the Year: 12 Leaders Fighting for a More Fair Society.
The narrative was written by one of her customers, Maria Ressa, a Filipino-American writer and Nobel Peace laureate. Amal Clooney refuses to back down comments regarding her growing notoriety and criticism in the article Amal Clooney Won’t Back Down:
“In terms of raising my public profile, I believe all I can do is try to focus attention on what is important.” This may be advantageous to some clients. There isn’t much I can do if I’m at a work function and the reporting concentrates on unrelated concerns. Because I do not influence it, my strategy is to avoid dwelling on it and to carry on with my work and life, hoping that views would change.”
Amal’s passionate and kind husband is still madly in love with her, and his regular compliments are heartwarming.
“She’s stunning and has a terrific sense of style – there’s no stylist or anything, she simply comes out that way, and she shows here, and she looks stunning,” he exclaimed. And she does it while working on 11 cases at the same time. So she’s a fantastic woman.”
With their twin kids, Alexander and Ella, born in 2017, the couple spends a lot of time at their Lake Como seafront Villa Oleandra, where they first met in 2013.
“Every day of my life, I just feel lucky,” Clooney said in a 2017 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I’ve been fortunate in my career. I’m fortunate to have discovered the ideal mate.”
“Sometimes things don’t go as planned, but you end up with the person you were always meant to be with. That’s how I feel, and I know Amal feels the same way.”
