A Poor Man Discovers A Cellar Buried Next To The House, Fulfilling His Late Grandmother’s Final Wish To Rebuild It

Despite having little extra cash, Harry chose to grant his late grandmother’s wish to repair her home since he loved his family. He was shocked by what he found inside the house, and it permanently altered his life.

Following the death of their grandmother, Harry and his brother Walter were summoned to the lawyer’s office. Knowing that the call would be regarding their grandmother’s bequest, Walter was thrilled to get it.

Their grandfather’s whole fortune went to his adored wife, leaving Harry and Walter penniless when he passed away five years ago. Walter was therefore anticipating that everything will go to them now that his grandmother had died.

Harry and Walter were remarkably different, even though they were only a year apart. Harry made the decision to go it alone and work hard for what he had rather than depending on their family’s wealth.

Walter, meanwhile, was constantly focused on the goal. He understood that by remaining near his grandparents after his parents passed away, he would eventually receive the legacy he felt he was due. Prioritizing work over all else, he labored in the company his father left him and Harry.

“My dear grandsons, your late grandfather built this house for me when we were just starting out,” their grandmother said to them before she passed away. I’ve spent my entire life here, and you have happy memories of it as well. On her deathbed, she stated, “I just ask that you rebuild it in your grandfather’s memory.”

“Before I leave, I want to make good on my promise to dad that the house he constructed for me will be passed down through the generations.” “Do that for me, please,” she had said to them.

Walter and Harry both nodded, but only one was sincere. It was obvious who had their grandmother’s best interests in mind that day in the lawyer’s office.

The lawyer informed them, “Your grandmother leaves her house to both of you.” Walter waited for him to continue and remained silent for some time. He chose to talk when he didn’t.

Walter inquired, “What else?”

“Nothin’ else. The attorney informed him it was all in her will.”

“What? That isn’t possible! What about her entire fortune? Her jewelry?” He said, “I know she had a lot.”

“We have previously looked throughout the house, but we were unable to find any valuables. Before she passed away, she had already closed her bank account.” The attorney clarified, “This is all she had left.”

Harry followed Walter as he stormed out of the office, still in a rage. “Gramma’s wish must be fulfilled,” Harry informed his brother.

“For what purpose? She won’t realize that rebuilding that old house didn’t cost us any money. That house is not something I want anything to do with. Before he drove off, Walter ordered him to do with it as he pleased.”

Harry knew he didn’t have any money, but he still wanted to grant his grandmother’s wish. His income barely covered his family’s needs, and he was heavily in debt.

He decided to renovate his grandmother’s home using his savings and additional money borrowed from his wealthy friend. He was repairing the front lawn’s sewage system while rebuilding it himself when he dug up the ground and spotted a wooden hatch.

As he pulled the aperture, he asked himself, “What is this?” When he opened the hatch, a small set of stairs leading to a room below the surface was immediately visible. He was shocked by what he found when he descended with a bright lamp.

The room had a letter on top of a wooden trunk. The letter, which Harry’s grandfather had written before he died, said:

“To Harry, my grandson,

This letter is probably being read by you at this very now. If so, you have shown great obedience to both your grandmother and me. You reading this indicates that you have granted her final wish, which I told her to share with you before she passed away. I am thankful for this. I’m glad Walter changed his mind and that you two are cooperating, if you’re reading this together.

Do not be concerned. I’m secure now, and your grandmother is watching over you from above. We hope you and your families make the most of this house and all in it. Present this letter to my attorney now. You’ll find what you’re due there. With affection, Grandpa.”

Harry was astounded by his sight. Before opening the chest, he read the note several times. His grandparents’ jewelry box and family albums were in the trunk.

He gave the letter to his grandparents’ attorney when they met that same day. The attorney acknowledged that “he always knew that it’d be you handing over this letter one day, Harry.”

Harry couldn’t help but smile. “I do love my grandparents a whole lot. I’d fulfill their wishes any day,” he replied.

“I am giving you ownership of a bank account that is in your grandfather’s name. It has roughly $300,000.” “I should donate all of this to charity if you didn’t choose to rebuild your grandmother’s house,” the attorney clarified.

Harry chose to make a charitable donation despite this knowledge. He retained the remainder for himself and gave $100,000 to organizations that assist the elderly. He used the funds to launch a business for himself and his spouse, pay off his debts, and rebuild his grandmother’s home entirely.

Ultimately, they moved into his grandmother’s home after selling their own. They had more than enough money to live comfortably and debt-free after their cafe business debuted effectively.
