A woman was prevented from trying suicide by American rock musician and actor Jon Bon Jovi by jumping off Nashville’s John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge. Social media users are applauding Jon Bon Jovi for his foresight as they watch a dramatic video of the incident go viral.
The distressed woman, dressed in a blue dress, can be seen in the video standing outside the Cumberland River bridge’s railing. Jovi was preparing to film a music video atop the bridge, if rumors from the media are to be believed.
Jovi went up to greet the woman shortly after realizing something was off. He leaned on the railing next to her and made an attempt to talk to her. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department has released CCTV footage showing the artist approaching the woman with a second person and successfully removing her from the railing.
Sharing the video, the Nashville police wrote on X, “A shout out to @jonbonjovi & his team for helping a woman on the Seigenthaler Ped Bridge Tuesday night. Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety. It takes all of us to help keep each other safe.”
However, because it violated the community guidelines, the YouTube video has been taken down from the site.
Praising Jovi, a user wrote on X, “Jon Bon Jovi.. what a classy heroic move.. to stop someone from jumping to their demise.”
“Jon Bon Jovi greatest rock star in the world and now hero,” another user wrote.
“This moved me to tears. In a time of such division and hardship, I can truly feel the love in his actions. Well done, @jonbonjovi. A beautiful example of empathy and kindness,” read another comment.
The Metro Nashville Police Department and the Nashville Fire Department reportedly raced to the area right away, according to media accounts.
It should be mentioned that Jovi assists people in need through his foundation, the JBJ Soul Foundation.
